This a Uganda Wildlife safari and primate trekking safari tour involving chimpanzee trekking, mountain gorilla tour and game viewing in Uganda.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
At 0700hrs, drive from Kampala through the famous Luwero Triangle with a stop over at Masindi hotel for lunch and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. You will take a drive to the top of the falls where you will enjoy and marvel at the mighty Nile being forced in a seven meter crevice to thunder 45 meters below in a series of cascades that can be viewed at different points at the summit. Proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Camp/ Sambiya River Lodge/ Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 2: Game drive / Game Viewing Tour
After a cup of tea, go for an early morning game drive on the northern bank where your guide will help you spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribi, Bush Bucks, hyenas, and on rare cases leopards. Return to the lodge for breakfast.
After lunch, go for the launch cruise on the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. This offers excellent game viewing of Hippos, Elephants, Water Bucks and Uganda Kobs. We shall also see plenty of Crocodiles and many bird species including Egyptian geese, King Fishers, Cormorants, goliath herons among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National park
Enjoy an early breakfast before transferring to Kibale National Park. We shall drive via the Albertine escarpment of the Western Rift Valley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort Portal road. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali Lodge/Chimps’ Nest.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking Expedition.
Up relatively early, you will have breakfast to report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00am. You will reach the station to be briefed about the chimpanzee tracking, the forest walks and how to behave while with the great apes.
You will then walk along the different tracks in the forest in groups for these great apes. During the walk you may stop to listen to the calls of the chimps to avoid bypassing them. The walk will be guided, providing information about chimps, other primates, fauna and flora making it informative and interesting. After the tracking the chimps, you will have lunch and then go for a nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Kibale - Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will enter the park while viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. With a game drive en-route you may see different animals which include the comical warthogs, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas and a variety of antelope species. After lunch, proceed to Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise. enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Katara Lodge/Kingfisher Lodge/Simba Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Chimps/game viewing
Early morning make your entry into Kyambura Gorge for a thrilling Chimpanzee safari. The rain forest is spectacular and offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense with numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Your guided walk in search of the chimps and other primates, may last several hours. In the afternoon, you will set off for a game drive along Kasenyi track and Queens’s mile in the park.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest passing either via Ishasha, the home of the tree climbing lion, or take the alternative route through cultivated expanses. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Engagi Lodge/Mantana tented Camp/ Buhoma Community camp.
Day 8: Bwindi Mountain Gorillas
Early Morning brief by Park Staff at 7.30am.The rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for tourists. Recorded mammals here include the endangered mountain gorilla, the rare golden monkey, buffaloes, elephants, duikers, bush bucks, leopards, giant forest hogs as well as other animals. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The thrill of spending time with and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare and exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience. Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo is the best place in the Country to see the gigantic eland Antelope as well as Zebras, Topi, Impala and the Sitatunga Antelope. You will have a lunch stop at Mbarara town before reaching the park in the early evening. Dinner and overnight at Mantana tented camp/Mihingo lodge/Rwonyo camp.
Day 10: Return to Kampala from game viewing
After an early morning breakfast you will have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. This walk takes you to the Salt Lick Area. A strategically located wooden platform (Observation point) offers a thrilling opportunity to experience the park’s Biodiversity. After your nature walk tour, transfer back to Kampala.
