Day one: Depart for Bwindi

endangered mountain gorilla trackingDepart early in the morning for Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. The park is located in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley. The drive takes you through the grasslands of Ankole, whose common sight are the famous long-horned cattle; then to the highlands of Kigezi with their beautifully terraced hills. Break off for lunch at any hotel.

Proceed with the journey through beautiful scenery and arrive Bwindi National Park in the evening. The park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, the park accumulates a lengthy species list. These include 310 species of butterfly, 200 tree species, 51 reptiles 88 months and an optional 120 types of mammals including 10 primates. You will check in at Gorilla Resort or Buhomma Community Bandas, for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

 Take a cup of coffee early in morning and set off with your guide to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Spend time with the gorillas see their activities. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Return to camp for dinner and over night

Day 3: Depart for Queen Elizabeth National park

queen elizabeth national park wildlife safariHave breakfast; depart northwards for Queen Elizabeth National Park through the unique western rift valley escarpment. Take a mini game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions before getting the Mweya Peninsular; park headquarters. Arrive in the evening and check in at your Lodge. Over night at Jacana Safari Lodge / Mweya Safari Lodge or Mweya hostel

 Day Four: Chimp trekking and launch cruise

Wake up before the sun rise and drive to Kyambura Gorge for Chimpanzee. The gorge is the natural home of habituated chimpanzees. Your guided walk may last three to five hours and in addition to seeing the chimps, the trip may yield sightings of the colobus monkeys, baboons, red tailed and velvet monkeys, and other primates. After lunch, drive to the dock, for an afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lakes Edward and George. Its shoreline attracts large mammals and reptiles through out the year. These can be seen from covered launches, topi, and simba that cruise between Mweya Jetty and the channel’s entrance into Lake Edward.      There are also a rich variety of birds on the channel. Back to the lodge for dinner and over night.

 
DAY 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK WILDLIFE TOURS

Take break fast before sunrise for the early morning game drive to catch-up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You are may see  grazing elephants, lions, spotted hyenas ,leopards, hippos, , bushbuck, water buck and stripped jackal and of-course the several warthogs.

Also visit Katwe Salt Lake (salt explosions) to see how salt how salt is extracted from the Lake using evaporation beds. You may as well learn the participation of the local people, especially the women, in salt mining and the relationship between the park Authorities and the local community in the area. Return to Kampala arriving in the evening.
